About Sunshine Concessions


Sunny and Blake Byars

Sunshine Concessions is currently owned and operated out of Atlanta, Georgia by Sunny and Blake Byars. It is a family business that has been serving-up tasty funnel cakes and other treats all across the Southeastern United States since 1991. Prior to 2005, Sunshine Concessions was called Blue Ribbon Concessions and was owned by Sunny's parents. Following their retirement, we purchased the family business and changed the name to Sunshine Concessions in honor of the person that really does the work: Sunny (the wife).


We have three children: a 20 year-old currently studying Criminal Justice at the University of Georgia, a 12 year-old, and a 5 year-old. Blake is serving on active duty with the US Army and Sunny works full time managing Sunshine Concessions.


Why Should You Choose Sunshine Concessions For Your Next Event?


We are a specialty food vendor. Unlike other vendors, we believe that focusing on one product allows us to provide our customers with best funnel cakes around. Many times vendors who sell funnel cakes will also sell other fried items like corn dogs, chicken fingers and fish in order to generate more revenue. Their thought is "we have the grease so why not fry something else and make more money?" However, cooking funnel cakes in grease used for other purposes results in the funnel cakes "taking on" the taste of the other food. We don't use our grease for other purposes because we don't know many people who like fish-flavored funnel cakes!


We take pride in our business. How many times have you been to a fair or festival and the person preparing your food looks like they haven't bathed in a few days? Or their tent has trash and food particles everywhere? Sunshine Concessions understands that people want the person serving their food and the area that it is being served out of to be clean and well kept. That is why we always ensure that we look as good as our funnel cakes taste. We ensure that no matter how busy we get we focus on the appearance of our tent as well as ourselves.


We make only fresh funnel cakes. Our funnel cake batter is mixed on sight with the highest quality funnel cake batter on the market. Where we get our cake batter is a closely guarded secret but you can be sure that we are not buying it at the local grocery store like some vendors. And don't get us started on frozen funnel cakes! Many vendors use frozen cakes in order to save time and make the process easier. This may result in the vendor making a few extra dollars but it leaves the customer with a sub-standard funnel cake and a feeling of getting ripped-off.


Repeat customers, repeat events. Unlike vendors who serve the fish-tainted and frozen funnel cakes, we continuously have customers who return to our tent for another funnel cake because of the value and taste. It is not unusual for us to hear that our funnel cakes are the best someone has had or they had wished they had tried our cakes first. We have been asked by every event coordinator to return to their event next year. Numerous times we have been selected as the sole funnel cake vendor for a yearly event after working the event one year with numerous vendors selling funnel cakes.
